The Storm

& The Stream

Artists: Ania Varez, Clare Reynolds, Rhiannon Colvin, Tom Spencer
& Black Bark Films

With: Young People from
Holyrood Academy

Over the course of 8 weeks in spring 2026, we visited Holyrood Academy to work alongside a group of Year 9 students. The young people brought brilliant energy to the project, as well as their skills from football, boxing, majorettes and more, though none of them had been involved in a dance project like this before. They worked alongside Terrestrial’s artists to develop their own choreography.

The film’s title - The Storm & The Stream - is taken from conversations with the students. They shared their feelings around different aspects of their personalities that are ‘seen’ and ‘unseen’. Many of them talked about the different energies they experience; you might spot a ‘fireball’ or ‘flowing water’ in their movement.

Performers: Amber, Ava, Beth, Catt, CJ, Harmony, Jess, Jess, Kyan, Matilda, Ollie, Vinnie.
