Great Mead

Join us for an adventure walk, storytelling performance and forest play.

Designed for children aged 5-13 and their families, but all are welcome.

We’ll be sharing stories created by young people, building swings in the trees, and exploring the wild area.

Great Mead is the beautiful green space hidden behind Holyrood Academy (google maps link). There are no facilities - please bring all you need, dress for the weather and expect muddy ground.

 

12.00 - 3.30pm
Chard Guildhall

Head to the Guildhall for a busy afternoon of free creative activities. Designed for children of all ages, teenagers and adults. We’ll have hot drinks and snacks all afternoon.

12.00 - 2.00pm
Free hot lunch (veggie, vegan & gluten-free options) cooked on site by our friendly team.

12.00 - 2.30pm
Drop-in arts activities:

  • Cardboard craft (build your dream town)

  • Add your ideas to our new mascot

  • Poster & banner making

  • Paper plane experiments

  • Check out stalls from Chard Museum and other local groups.

2.30pm
Premiere of an original dance short film made by students from Holyrood Academy with visiting professional artists.

3.00pm
Unveiling of the new mascot for Chard, with a procession up the road to the Museum.
