Supporting community arts in Frome

An illustration showing lots of people taking part in different artistic activities across the town of Frome

Do you have an idea for a community arts project?
Want to connect with artists interested in community work?
Looking to find out more about funding and opportunities?
Or just fancy discovering some inspiring examples of community co-creation?

We’ve been hosting a series of gatherings for creative folk, and we’re now supporting one-to-one conversations with anyone who wants to develop new community arts projects locally.

Frome is home to scores of exciting artists. From filmmakers to jewellery designers, DJs to poets, painters to forest crafters, a lot of very talented people call this small Somerset market town home.

And there are many pioneering charities and community initiatives working on the ground locally to make Frome a fairer, kinder and more sustainable town.

We would like to support ideas that bring these two groups together.

Artists and local charities/community groups collaborating to galvanise change.

Artist Gatherings

In Spring 2023 we hosted a first series of get-togethers for artists working in and around Frome. We shared some inspiring examples from across the UK and internationally of artists and communities co-creating projects together. And then we talked together about what might help local artists to work in collaboration with community partners.

When we say 'artist', we mean anyone who uses creative skills and experiences to explore new ideas, as well as all the wonderful people who support and enable these kinds of activities to happen. That includes photographers, dancers, poets, graffiti artists, producers, councillors, chefs, gardeners, you name it... people with a long-established practice or just starting out.

Book a conversation

Would you like to chat about a project you’re working on, or an idea you’re dreaming about?

You can book in for a free session with Terrestrial’s Director Tom Spencer, and local producer Jess Francombe.
